SAIGON - TIEN GIANG/ BEN TRE - CAN THO - CHAU DOC - SAIGON 

This is our most popular tour—carefully customized itinerary. We’ll provide you a selection of activities from which we think you should not be missed out in Mekong Delta. You may want to dive into local culture, being at thriving local markets, visit the homes of local residents, watch local artisans create unique art objects, dine at local restaurants with our food-friendly guides, or just walk/ cycling around small villages and experience street life in this typical Southern part of Vietnam.

You will have a chance watch the making of coconut candy in Ben Tre, experience Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho, and visiting the historic village, a mix of Vietnamese and Cham in Chau Doc, and Tra Su Bird Sanctuary, famous for its almost-untouched natural beauty and magnificent flora and fauna. We will provide a route that suits your experience-level—always with your safety and fun in mind.

 Itinerary:

DAY 1: SAI GON - TIEN GIANG/BEN TRE - CAN THO (L/D)

7:45: Welcome by our tour guide at your hotel, then depart for My Tho, Tien Giang.

9:30: Arrive at the boat station, transfer by boat to the island, for activities like:

  • Visit a famous island in MEKONG DELTA to view local orchards, farms and rice fields, before spending time with local families in their homes.

  • Board a motorboat for a short trip to visit a coconut candy factory.  

  • Visit an apiary (bee-keeping farm) and enjoy honey tea.  

  • Enjoy a lunch of five authentic Vietnamese dishes and fruit for desert.

  • Listen to Vietnamese traditional music - a UNESCO site. 

  • Tropical fruits grown in this region can be tasted. 

  • Take a row boat slowly paddles though the beautiful overhanging coconut trees.

13:30: After exploring the island, going for Ben Tre province.

14:00: Check in the homestay, taking a rest and enjoy yourself.

 .........: Spending time with the local family to share cooking time, cycling around the neighbor area…etc

 

DAY 2: BEN TRE – CAN THO (B/L/D)

Your day begins with a typical Vietnamese breakfast at your homestay. 

10:30: Departure for Can Tho city. On the way, you’ll stop at a Chocolate Farm, where seeing first-hand how chocolate is made in this family-owned business.

13:00: Having lunch at the local restaurant.

14:30: Arrive and check in the hotel. You’ll be free for a couple hours of relaxation or strolling around town if you wish.

15:30: Cycling around the village to get a closer look at life in this rustic part of the countryside. On the way, you’ll stop at Gian Gua historial relic (a former military shelter during Vietnam war)

18:30: Meet the tour guide and go for dinner. You’ll choose either a Food Tour or Riverside Restaurant to try authentic Vietnamese food with some of these choices below: (You can discuss with the guide in person) 

  • Duck hotspot - duck meet cooked with tofu cheese, paired with vegetables and taro.
  • Nem Nướng - grilled pork sausage, smothered with tangy vegetables roll with rice paper.
  • Cơm tấm - broken rice with barbequed pork ribs. 
  • Bánh xèo - Vietnamese savory pancake.
  • Bánh tráng nướng - Vietnamese pizza.
  • Xôi - sticky rice and smoothie for dessert.
  • ADVENTURE FOOD:  Eggplant in clay pot, frog, rat, snake, etc.  Please request this option in advance with your guide.

20:00: After dinner, you’ll be free for the evening.  Return to your hotel or walk around the night market or visit famous Ong Temple. 

 

DAY 3: CAN THO – CHAU DOC (B/L)

5:15: Departure early to visit CAI RANG floating market, the highlight of every visit. We will travel by private boat, passing through a network of small canals, visit a noodle making operation, view local fruit gardens, before enjoying traditional Vietnamese coffee and ‘Hu Tieu” - pork noodle soup local as breakfast on the boat.

8:30: Back to the hotel and check out.

9:00: Heading to Chau Doc and Tra Su Bird Sanctuary.

12:30: Stop for lunch along the way.

14:30: We’ll arrive Tra Su, famous for its almost-untouched natural beauty and magnificent flora and fauna which allows plenty of time for photos. To cap off this experience, you have a chance to visit the observation deck, where you’ll have a beautiful view of the mountains in the area, the expanses of mangrove forests and numerous birds.

16:00: Heading back to Chau Doc.

17:00: After checking into your hotel, you’ll have a free night to explore this lovely city and have your own dinner.

 

DAY 4: End up back to SAI GON/ CHAU DOC/ RACH GIA (B/L)

8:00: Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel to start this final day of your tour.

8:30: Today’s main attraction is a visit by boat to a Floating Fish Farm to see how this unique occupation is performed and having a small talk with family members and learn how they are adapting to changes in river conditions.

        Following this visit, walking through a nearby Cham village, a Muslim area, where many houses are built on stilts.  Bring your camera!  On the way back to your hotel, check out the Chau Doc market.

12:00: After hotel checkout. We will head back to Saigon or finish in Chau Doc. We’ll make several stops along the way, including lunch.

17:00: Arrive Saigon and say our goodbyes at your hotel where the tour ends.
